Traditionally, February is Heart Health Month.
This year, it is more important than ever to take care of your heart. COVID attacks the respiratory system, of which your heart is a crucial part. A healthy heart can keep COVID from becoming a fatal blow.
Yes, heart disease can affect the elderly; however, more young adults are living with high-risk factors than ever before. Three red flags to watch for are:
1.
High Blood Pressure – Patients and
clients with a hypertension diagnosis are far more likely to become heart attack or stroke victims.
2.
High Cholesterol Levels – Patients and
clients with blockage to their arteries because of obesity, unhealthy food
choices, diabetes, and lack of exercise can become vulnerable to heart disease
and, of course, contracting COVID.
3.
Smoking – Today, even with the known harmful effects linked to smoking, more than 35 million Americans still do
it! Smoking increases your risk of
contracting COVID. When the blood vessels
are damaged, your cardiovascular system is compromised. The network of channels enabling blood
vessels to flush out rogue and harmful microbes lessens. This vascular constriction reduces your body's
ability to develop healthy cellular growth and ward off infection.
If there is one thing we know for sure, your cells must reproduce healthily to live a more prosperous and long life. A healthy environment that promotes cellular growth is a must. If the body's ability to build antibodies continually diminishes, it weakens and eventually destroys your vital systems, then you die. That is the truth about life and deaths' inevitability.
So, the key to a healthy life is longevity. How long can you make the music last? How long can you love, feel happiness, and sustain
the memories? Those eventful days of
family, friends, and the world around you are the spirit of life itself.
